Israel Attack Origin... 440km from Tehran

Israel struck Isfahan in central Iran on the 19th in response to Iran's large-scale retaliatory airstrikes.

According to Bloomberg and other sources on the day, the Iranian semi-official Fars News Agency reported hearing explosions near Isfahan Airport and the 8th Army Aviation Corps military base.

CNN, citing a senior U.S. official, reported that Israel attacked Isfahan.

This comes six days after Iran launched airstrikes on Israel on the night of the 13th in retaliation for an attack on its consulate in Syria. This is the first time Israel has directly struck the Iranian mainland.

Isfahan, where Isfahan Airport is located, is the capital of Isfahan Province in Iran, situated 440 km south of the capital Tehran. It is the third most populous city in Iran, with a population of about 2.2 million.

Bloomberg reported that Isfahan was one of the locations from which Iran launched missiles and drones at Israel on the 13th. It is interpreted that Israel carried out limited retaliation by striking the origin point of Iran's airstrikes.

Additionally, Isfahan Province houses key nuclear facilities central to Iran's uranium enrichment program, as well as missile facilities and military bases. According to foreign media reports, the Isfahan nuclear facilities remain intact. CNN, citing a senior U.S. official, stated that Israel did not attack Iran's nuclear facilities.

The Fars News Agency also reported hearing explosions in the city of Gahzavarestan, located northwest of Isfahan. Gahzavarestan is a city near Isfahan Airport and the 8th Army Aviation Corps base.
