Honoring General Kim Myeon of Songam's Patriotic Spirit Every Year
Goryeong-gun (Governor Lee Nam-cheol) announced on the 19th that on the 18th, a memorial rite was held at Doam Seowon located in Gogok-ri, Ssangnim-myeon, with the attendance of over 50 members of the Seowon Management Committee and others.
This Doam Seowon memorial rite was conducted with an additional 2 million KRW in national funding secured through the Cultural Heritage Administration’s public project, the "2024 National Heritage Patriotic Martyrs Commemoration Event Support Project."
The rite was solemnly conducted with Lee Chang-woo (Gwangsan Lee clan) serving as the chief officiant, Kim Jeong-woong (Goryeong Kim clan) as the assistant officiant, and Kim Jae-ho (Goryeong Kim clan) as the final officiant.
The Doam Seowon memorial rite honors General Songam Kim Myeon, a Confucian scholar from Goryeong and a leader of the righteous army during the Imjin War who fiercely fought and died in battle. This annual ritual, held on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, is organized by the Doam Seowon Management Committee to commemorate the general’s loyalty, filial piety, and patriotic spirit.
