By the end of this year, 32 barefoot trails, including loess paths and dirt paths, will be created in parks and green spaces in Incheon.
Barefoot trails are known to boost immunity and effectively remove reactive oxygen species, making them popular attractions within parks frequently visited by citizens.
Currently, there are eight barefoot parks in Incheon, including the loess paths in Seunggi Park and Dongchun Park in Yeonsu-gu. The Incheon city government plans to create 24 new trails this year so that citizens can use them anytime in nearby parks close to their homes.
In the recently established loess path at Incheon Grand Park, shade shelters have been installed to differentiate it from existing barefoot trails, along with foot-washing facilities, safety fences, and shoe racks. Above all, it is gaining attention because visitors can walk barefoot while enjoying the beautiful lake view.
The city has also launched and operates social media channels to provide various information, including barefoot trails within parks, flower paths, health trails, forest trails, nature-based children's forest experience centers, forest interpretation, festivals, and music events.
An official from Incheon city stated, "We will install many park facilities that reflect the changing times so that citizens can heal their body and mind in nature."
