[Activity] Hong Nampyo, Changwon Special Mayor, Pays Tribute at 3·15 Democracy Cemetery on April 19 Revolution Memorial Day

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, visited the National 3·15 Democratic Cemetery (located in Masanhwawon-gu) on the morning of the 19th to pay tribute to the democratic spirits who sacrificed their lives for liberal democracy on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution.

Mayor Hong, along with senior officials, followed the guidance of the director of the National 3·15 Democratic Cemetery to lay flowers and incense, honoring the noble spirit of the democratic spirits who sacrificed themselves resisting injustice.


The March 15 Uprising, in which Masan citizens and students protested against the fraudulent March 15 election in 1960, is a bloody democratic uprising that became the direct catalyst for the April 19 Revolution, which marks its 64th anniversary today.


Mayor Hong stated, “The courage and sacrifice of the citizens who devoted themselves to freedom and justice became the foundation of our country's democratization. Changwon Special City will strive even more to enhance its status as a sacred place of democracy.”


Meanwhile, Changwon Special City is constructing the Hall of Democracy of Changwon City within the 3·15 Haeyang Nuri Park in Masanhappo-gu to inherit the spirit of democracy, with completion scheduled for the end of this year.
