Hyundai Motor Officially Sponsors Korean Pavilion at Venice Biennale

Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 19th that it will participate as the official sponsor of the Korean Pavilion at the Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition.

The Venice Biennale is an international art exhibition boasting a history of 120 years. The 60th Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition will be held from the 20th of this month until November 24th at the Giardini Park located in Venice, Italy. Alongside the main exhibition curated by the Biennale’s artistic director, individual participating countries will present their own national pavilion exhibitions.

Hyundai Motor Company will officially sponsor the Korean Pavilion exhibition at this Venice Biennale, titled "Koo Jeong A - Odorama City," as well as the special exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Korean Pavilion’s establishment, "Every Island is a Mountain."

Since 2015, Hyundai has supported the Korean Pavilion at the Venice Biennale International Art Exhibition, held every two years, helping Korean artists showcase their experimental works to the global cultural and artistic community.

Notably, the 60th Venice Biennale Korean Pavilion exhibition will be the first to be conducted under a co-artistic director system since its opening in 1995. Seolhee Lee, chief curator of Kunsthal Aarhus in Denmark, and Jakob Fabricius, director of Art Hub Copenhagen in Denmark, will jointly serve as artistic directors to present the works of artist Koo Jeong A.

The day before the opening, Hyundai held the "Hyundai Night in celebration of Korean Art" event, featuring a performance commemorating the late artist Nam June Paik, who contributed to the establishment of the Korean Pavilion.

A Hyundai Motor Company representative said, "It is meaningful to be able to support the Korean Pavilion exhibitions at the Venice Biennale over the past decade as well as the special exhibition for the 30th anniversary of the Korean Pavilion’s establishment. We will continue to make relentless efforts to create opportunities for audiences worldwide to share diverse stories centered on Korean art."
