District and Public Procurement Service Selects Bolt Creation Co., Ltd. as Pilot User for Innovative Products; Secures 2,500 Polymer Air Filters... Special Filters with Ultra-Fine Holes in Film Enhance Air Purification and Reduce Waste Filters
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) has been selected as a pilot user agency for innovative products by the Public Procurement Service and is promoting an ESG demonstration project using polymer air filters that reduce fine dust in air purifiers.
The Public Procurement Service selects innovative products to improve public services and promote technological innovation, supporting initial demonstration projects through pilot purchase programs. Gangnam-gu was selected as a pilot purchaser for polymer air filters installed in air purifier filters, securing a total of 2,500 units: 1,500 for Gangnam-gu and 1,000 for the Gangnam Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
The amount of 162.5 million KRW for this project is fully funded by the Public Procurement Service budget. The district installed these filters in air purifiers at 165 senior citizen centers and welfare centers within the region. The demonstration period is six months, and the filters can continue to be used after the demonstration ends.
The innovative product provider, Volt Creation Co., Ltd., is an excellent startup awarded the CES 2024 Innovation Award and possesses ultra-precision processing (micro-etching) technology. The polymer air filter is a pre-filter made by creating ultra-fine holes in a film using this technology, offering excellent fine dust blocking capabilities. It is installed by wrapping around the existing filter inside the air purifier to enhance filter performance. It can be washed with water and reused, extending the replacement cycle of non-recyclable filters, thereby reducing filter waste and being environmentally friendly.
Volt Creation donated all costs of 5 million KRW in kind to replace all existing filters in air purifiers used at senior citizen centers and welfare centers to ensure smooth demonstration progress and accurate data measurement.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “We have practiced ESG administration by improving indoor air quality in welfare facilities frequently visited by residents and reducing waste. We will continue to promote ESG-related projects in various ways to create a sustainable city, Gangnam.”
