Police Confirm Debts of Deceased Men
Also Demanded Money from Female Acquaintance... Possible Financial Motive for Crime
In a hotel in Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province, circumstances have emerged suggesting that the incident in which four men and women died was a planned crime by the deceased men.
On the 18th, Kim Dohyung, Chief of the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency, held a press conference and stated, "Through financial transaction records and investigations of acquaintances of the deceased men, we confirmed that they had debts," adding, "We are continuously determining the exact amount." He further explained, "It is highly likely that the crime was committed for financial reasons, but since all suspects are deceased, there is no clear evidence to support this, and further investigation is needed."
The police confirmed that on the day of the incident, the 8th, before the two deceased men lured the women into the hotel room, they searched the internet for terms such as 'baekchoke' and 'knockout.' Additionally, at the estimated time when the women were subdued after entering the room, messages exchanged between the men included phrases like 'Should we kill them?' and 'Yes.' Based on this, the police believe the women were deliberately lured and murdered.
The police also found that the men contacted acquaintances of the deceased women, pretending to be the women themselves, and demanded money. The police place significant weight on financial motives as the reason behind the crime.
The investigation began after two men in their 20s fell to their deaths on the 10th at a hotel in Yadang-dong, Paju-si, and two women were found dead in the room where they had been staying.
The two men were friends, and among the two women, one was acquainted with the men, while the other had contacted them through a job-seeking chat room.
