On the 18th (local time), the German Federal Prosecutor's Office announced that it had arrested two German-Russian men in their 30s the previous day on charges including espionage for military sabotage purposes. They are suspected of communicating with Russian intelligence agents since October, spying on military facilities in Germany, and planning attacks.

Authorities stated that the suspects are believed to have attempted to undermine Germany's support for Ukraine. They allegedly tried to destroy supply routes for military goods heading from Germany to Ukraine. Additionally, the suspects filmed US military bases stationed in Germany and passed the footage to Russia. Among the surveillance targets was the Grafenwoehr US military base in southeastern Germany, where US forces train Ukrainian soldiers in tank operations and other skills.

It was confirmed that the ringleader among them had been active in a pro-Russian militia in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, from December 2014 to September 2016.

Marco Buschmann, Germany's Minister of Justice, said on his social media after the arrests, "We know that Russian intelligence agencies are focusing on our country," adding, "Germany must respond firmly to this threat."
