Citizen-Level Administration in Action... Lee Gang-deok, Mayor of Pohang, Holds Communication Event in Cheongha-myeon

On the 18th, Pohang City held the 'Citizen Empathy and Communication Day' event at Cheongha-myeon Administrative Welfare Center, attended by about 100 people including Mayor Lee Kang-deok, local district provincial and city council members, heads of self-governing organizations, and local residents.

The event proceeded with a briefing on the city's policy directions followed by listening to residents' suggestions. During the dialogue with citizens, various opinions were exchanged, including inconveniences experienced by local residents and policy proposals regarding city administration.


At the meeting, questions were raised about contentious local issues such as the expansion of the entrance road to Wolpo Beach, the construction of village walkways, and the replacement of aging pipelines. Mayor Lee Kang-deok provided explanations tailored to the residents' perspectives, eliciting understanding and empathy.


The mayor promised to actively listen to residents' concerns and strive to resolve problems. He also instructed related officials, including national and department heads present at the site, to devise measures for various pending issues.


A Pohang City official stated, "This dialogue with citizens was an effort to maximize the connection points where the city's administrative head, the mayor, and residents can empathize and communicate." He added, "We ask for citizens' active participation and interest in future communication events where citizens can directly convey their stories."
