Nonprofit Organization 'Sangroksu' Promotes Opportunities for Art Exhibitions and Disability Awareness Improvement
Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seong-heon) announced that the exhibition "Same Perspective" will be held at Hongjecheon Cafe Pokpo (262-24 Yeonhui-ro) from the 17th of this month to the 12th of next month in celebration of Disabled Persons Day (April 20).
This exhibition is hosted by the local nonprofit organization "Sangroksu," which provides young disabled artists with opportunities to exhibit their works and helps visitors improve their awareness of disabilities.
"Sangroksu" is an organization that offers art education for training disabled artists, holds exhibitions, and supports disabled artists. Since 2009, it has consistently held exhibitions of works by disabled artists. This is the first time an exhibition is held in Seodaemun-gu.
On the 17th, an opening event was held with the participation of disabled artists and their families, as well as Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu. The event included introductions of the participating artists' works and conversations with the artists so that the artists and visitors could share the "same perspective."
Here, visitors can see works reflecting the perspectives of 10 disabled artists, art products made from these works, and message cards for communication between artists and visitors.
Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "I was moved by the artistic talent and passion of the artists, and I expect many people will have a happy artistic experience along with the works."
Seodaemun-gu provided "Cafe Pokpo" as an exhibition space for young artists so that visitors can feel the beauty of nature and art together.
