The Small Enterprise and Market Service (SEMAS) announced on the 18th that it plans to relocate its headquarters building within June. The new location will be the KB Kookmin Bank building in Jijok-dong, Yuseong-gu.
SEMAS has faced issues in managing the institution due to poor working conditions such as safety concerns from aging facilities, insufficient office and convenience spaces compared to the expanding organization responding to public needs, and inadequate treatment compared to similar public institutions.
While the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and related agencies are located in Sejong City, SEMAS is the only one situated in Daejeon, causing difficulties in communication and coordination between ministries.
Accordingly, SEMAS decided to relocate to a new building after reviewing aspects such as ▲securing safety ▲improving work efficiency ▲reducing institutional expenses ▲enhancing welfare. The average office area will increase by 3.3㎡, and the distance to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will be reduced by about 20 km, which is expected to improve work efficiency. Additionally, compared to the current building, the deposit and lease management costs will decrease, and free parking will be expanded, significantly reducing expenses.
A representative of the Small Enterprise and Market Service stated, “Since its launch, SEMAS employees have worked hard for Korea’s 7.3 million small business owners and over 1,800 traditional markets and shopping districts. Through this relocation, we expect to improve the working environment for our employees who have worked diligently, enhance employee capabilities by securing work efficiency, and also achieve welfare improvement.”
