Eco&Dream announced on the 18th that it will secure key personnel and make large-scale investments to expand its secondary battery core material precursor business.
Eco&Dream is a specialized company in secondary battery precursors, having started research and development in 2008 and holds references for supplying 622 precursors and mid-nickel precursors. In the past five years, it has signed large-scale contracts to supply high-nickel precursors.
In January, Eco&Dream signed a long-term precursor supply contract with a client and has been actively delivering high-nickel precursors manufactured at its Cheongju plant. The first expansion volume of Eco&Dream’s Saemangeum campus is also planned to be delivered immediately after commissioning, according to customer requests.
The Saemangeum campus, whose groundbreaking ceremony was held last February, is currently undergoing structural work to form the exterior of the factory building. Once the structural work is completed, equipment will be brought in. To meet the schedule promised to clients, the project is underway with the goal of completion in the first quarter of 2025.
Eco&Dream is investing approximately KRW 180 billion to build a precursor factory on a 148,479㎡ (about 45,000 pyeong) site in the Saemangeum Industrial Complex and plans to mass-produce 30,000 tons annually of NCM (Nickel, Cobalt, Manganese) precursors.
The investment amount is being executed in accordance with the construction progress and in coordination with main banks. Additional funding is expected to be secured in the second quarter along with government subsidies related to regional investment as policy funds are disbursed.
An Eco&Dream official stated, “More than half of the investment amount has already been secured,” and emphasized, “We have reviewed various funding options and are proceeding smoothly without any funding gaps.”
Eco&Dream is leading the technology trends in the precursor market by developing next-generation precursors through excellent technological development capabilities. The products recently supplied are premium high-nickel precursors that improve the structural stability of existing high-nickel types.
Key products under development include ultra-high-nickel precursors with controlled crystal structure and morphology, low-cost high-manganese precursors, high-performance manganese-rich precursors for all-solid-state batteries, and high-voltage mid-nickel precursors. Sample tests of these next-generation precursors reflecting the latest trends are currently underway with clients.
Meanwhile, to secure a leading position in the global precursor market, Eco&Dream has launched large-scale recruitment in the secondary battery materials sector. Recruitment is open across all fields including precursor business planning, research and development, engineering, and production, and personnel for the Gunsan site are also being hired due to the Saemangeum plant expansion.
The head of Eco&Dream’s HR team said, “Due to the recent rapid business expansion, we are conducting large-scale recruitment to secure specialized secondary battery personnel,” adding, “We are putting great effort into securing outstanding talent to strengthen Eco&Dream’s technological competitiveness and leap forward as a global leading company,” and continued, “We ask for the interest and applications of those who will lead future competitiveness.”
