Foreigners and Institutions 'Buy'... KOSPI Rises, Trading at 2618 Level

Amid buying pressure from foreigners and institutions, the KOSPI is rising in early trading on the morning of the 18th.


As of 9:47 a.m., the KOSPI index was trading at 2,618.25, up 34.07 points (1.32%) from the previous trading day. The index started at 2,595.46, up 11.28 points (0.44%), and is expanding its gains. Foreigners purchased 110.8 billion KRW, institutions bought 49 billion KRW, while individuals sold 153.6 billion KRW alone.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, POSCO Holdings (4.85%), Samsung SDI (4.8%), POSCO Future M (3.82%), Celltrion (2.28%), Shinhan Financial Group (1.97%), LG Energy Solution (1.92%), and Kakao (1.49%) are rising. On the other hand, Kia (-1.15%) and Hyundai Mobis (-0.21%) are declining. By sector, most sectors are on the rise, including steel and metals (4.09%), electric and gas utilities (3.47%), machinery (2.03%), pharmaceuticals (2.01%), and chemicals (1.77%).


On the 17th (local time) at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the blue-chip-focused Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 37,753.31, down 45.66 points (0.12%) from the previous trading day. The large-cap-focused S&P 500 index fell 29.2 points (0.58%) to 5,022.21, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq index closed down 181.88 points (1.15%) at 15,683.37.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ index recorded 848.01, up 14.98 points (1.80%) from the previous session. The index started at 833.38, up 0.35 points (0.04%). Individuals and foreigners bought 52.3 billion KRW and 20.4 billion KRW respectively, while institutions sold 67.2 billion KRW net.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen (8.21%), Samchundang Pharmaceutical (6.50%), Enchem (5.97%), EcoPro BM (5.35%), Celltrion Pharm (3.99%), Hugel (3.36%), HLB (2.15%), JYP Entertainment (JYP Ent.) (2.40%), and Classys (2.37%) are rising. Meanwhile, Solbrain (-2.15%), ISC (-0.99%), and Dongjin Semichem (-0.65%) are declining.
