Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun: "We Will Create a City Without Discrimination in All Areas"

Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Suwon, emphasized, "We will create a city without discrimination in all areas, including facilities, society, and culture."

Mayor Lee attended the ‘44th Suwon Disabled Persons Day Ceremony and Welfare Expo’ held at Suwon Gymnasium in Suwon Sports Complex on the 17th, stating, "We are striving to break down the ‘discrimination and barriers’ in all places used by citizens such as arboretums, administrative welfare centers, libraries, cultural centers, and playgrounds," and promised, "We will carefully prepare policies and provide support so that disabilities do not become obstacles and everyone can enjoy their daily lives."

With the slogan ‘Together on the Path, Towards Equality,’ the event was hosted by the Suwon Disabled Welfare Organizations Federation. The event included the reading of the Disabled Persons Human Rights Charter, awards for meritorious persons, and congratulatory performances.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun, Kim Ki-jung, Chairperson of Suwon City Council, Lee Jong-gap, President of the Suwon Disabled Welfare Organizations Federation, and 15 others including students from Areum School read the Disabled Persons Human Rights Charter representing both disabled and non-disabled persons.

Mayor Lee and Chairperson Kim awarded commendations to 32 exemplary disabled persons and contributors to disabled welfare.

At the welfare expo held outside Suwon Gymnasium, projects such as Saebit Care, employment support for disabled persons, and activities of organizations related to disabled persons were promoted.

The commemorative event concluded with all attendees singing ‘With Love’ together.
