From 10 PM to 1 AM on weekdays, two Safe Return Scouts accompany you home
Apply via 'Seoul City Ansim-i' app or former Comprehensive Situation Room, 100% advance reservation required, same-day booking only
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will operate the 'Safe Return Scout' program in 2024 to support the safe accompaniment of Gangbuk-gu residents on their way home.
The Safe Return Scout service consists of scout members paired in teams of two who accompany individuals to their doorstep late at night. Anyone can apply for this service.
Last year, the district provided 4,716 return support cases and patrolled 12,652 high-risk areas through the Safe Return Scout program.
Applications are accepted only by 100% advance reservation and same-day reservations are possible. After downloading the 'Seoul Safe-i' app on a mobile phone, users can apply by accessing the app and following the steps on the main screen: ▲Scout ▲Enter destination ▲Select base ▲Select reservation time ▲Make reservation.
If using the app is difficult, applications can be made by phone to the Gangbuk-gu Office Comprehensive Situation Room, and depending on the situation, applications can also be made directly to scout members on duty at the site. However, when applying via the Safe-i app or by phone, it is recommended to make a reservation at least 30 minutes before arriving at the base, considering the scout’s travel time.
The service operates from 10 PM to midnight on Mondays, and from 10 PM to 1 AM the next day from Tuesday to Friday. It does not operate on Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays.
Gangbuk-gu’s operation bases include seven locations: Solsaem Police Substation, Mia Sageori Station (Exits 5 and 6), Samyang Lotte Mart, Samyang Sageori Station (Exit 2), Suyu Station (Exits 3 and 4), Hwaggye Station (Exit 2), and Gaori Station (Exit 2). At these locations, you can find Safe Return Scout members wearing yellow vests and hats. There are a total of 15 Safe Return Scouts in Gangbuk-gu, consisting of one team leader and seven teams (two members per team).
Meanwhile, Gangbuk-gu operates other safety initiatives for residents’ secure daily lives, including Safe Package support, Safe Delivery Lockers, Safe Keeper Houses, and a Citizen Surveillance Group against illegal filming.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "Residents returning home late at night are encouraged to actively use the Seoul Safe-i app,” adding, “We will continue to prioritize residents’ safety and do our best to make Gangbuk-gu a safe city free from crime and accidents.”
