Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 17th that it held the plaque ceremony for the first house of the customized housing environment improvement project for national merit recipients and others, called 'Myeong(premium) Pum(house)' (hereinafter Myeongpumjip), in Osong-eup, Cheongju-si.

Myeongpumjip is a social contribution project in which LH, together with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Habitat for Humanity Korea, and Good Neighbors, supports customized housing environment improvements for vulnerable national merit recipients. Last year, it helped improve the housing environment for 111 national merit recipients.
Through the Myeongpumjip project, LH applies specialized housing environment designs (universal design) tailored to residents' conditions such as disabilities and old age, improves energy efficiency within the household, and provides safety kits. A Myeongpumjip nameplate is attached to the exterior of the house to create an environment that honors social respect for veterans.
This year’s first Myeongpumjip house is the residence of Mr. Lee Jong-guk (age 76), a national merit recipient who distinguished himself in the Vietnam War. In July last year, Mr. Lee’s house was flooded due to the overflow of the village stream caused by heavy rain. LH carried out waste disposal, full replacement of wallpaper and flooring, insulation and heating work, as well as rooftop and interior/exterior painting for the house.
On the same day, LH signed the '2024 Myeongpumjip Social Contribution Agreement' with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Habitat for Humanity Korea, and Good Neighbors. Under the agreement, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs selects project beneficiaries, Habitat for Humanity and Good Neighbors carry out housing renovations, and LH oversees the program and provides financial support.
Lee Han-jun, President of LH, said, "We will continue to actively strive to foster a culture of social respect for national merit recipients and to spread the culture of honoring veterans through various projects."
Meanwhile, LH has been promoting various projects to stabilize the housing of national merit recipients and their families. Since 2022, a representative example is the supply of 'Veterans’ Bo-geumjari Housing (purchased rental housing)' to homeless national merit recipients and their families at 30% of the surrounding market price. This includes a total of 55 households in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, and Uijeongbu-si, Gyeonggi Province. This year’s housing environment improvement project targets 120 households of national merit recipients.
