Plogging Event to Be Held on the 23rd at Gwangjin Supnaru and on the 27th at Cheongchun Tteulak (Around Konkuk University Food Street)
Various Activities Planned Including Plogging, Waste Separation Guidance, and Green Practice Campaign
Expectations to Raise Awareness of Environmental Protection Importance and Learn Concrete Daily Practices
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold two plogging events on the 23rd and 27th in celebration of Earth Day (22nd).
Plogging is an activity that combines jogging with picking up litter to protect both health and the environment. This plogging event was organized by Gwangjin-gu to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection in the local community and to promote individual lifestyle practices for carbon neutrality.
First, an environmental campaign will be held on the morning of the 23rd at Gwangjin Supnaru. Hosted by Junggok Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and jointly conducted by Walkerhill Hotel and Gwangjin-gu Office, about 100 participants including officials and residents will engage in plogging as well as various environmental protection activities such as ▲ Environmental Quiz Zone ▲ Seed Tree Making ▲ Guidance on Waste Separation and Green Practice Campaign.
On the morning of the 27th, an environmental campaign will be operated around the Konkuk University Food Street area and Cheongchun Tteurak. Hosted by Lotte Department Store (Konkuk Star City branch), about 150 participants including related organizations and residents will plog around the Food Street area and participate in environmental campaigns such as ▲ Plogging Kit Production and Distribution ▲ Provision of Eco-friendly Goods.
Through these two environmental campaigns, participants are expected to experience the importance of environmental protection and learn specific ways to practice environmental protection in their daily lives.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “In response to the climate crisis on Earth Day, we are operating plogging events together with the local community,” and added, “I hope many residents will recognize the importance of environmental protection once again through this event and join in creating an atmosphere of practicing green living.”
