Zero Pay is a simple payment system introduced in 2018 to spread easy payments in the domestic payment market, which has been dominated by card payments, in order to reduce the payment fee burden on small merchants. It is a payment method using QR codes at Zero Pay affiliated stores nationwide.

With this payment linkage, payments can be made through Zero Pay QR and Kakao Pay at 1.1 million stores equipped with on-site payment QR codes out of a total of 1.83 million Zero Pay affiliated stores.

Park Seong-hyo, Director of the Small Enterprise and Market Service, said, "Through this Zero Pay-Kakao Pay collaboration, small merchants will be able to secure more consumers," adding, "The Service will continue to actively strive to increase sales for small merchants and revitalize the local economy by continuously expanding and strengthening win-win cooperation with private companies."

Meanwhile, Zero Pay is continuously enhancing convenience for domestic and international users by expanding partnerships with overseas payment companies so that tourists can use their home country’s mobile payment methods to make payments domestically, in line with the recent increase in inbound tourists.
