Education for 120 Saenghwal Gaeseonhoe Members
On the 17th, Sacheon City in Gyeongnam conducted the 2024 project education titled ‘Najeon Chilgi Craft’ for 120 members of the Saenghwal Gaeseonhoe at the Sacheon Agricultural Technology Center.
Najeon Chilgi is a decorative lacquer craft technique where thinly sliced seashells are cut into various shapes and inlaid onto the surface of objects.
This project education included theoretical lessons on the meaning, history, and characteristics of Najeon Chilgi by period, as well as practical training on making mother-of-pearl soban (small trays).
Members who participated in the education said, "It was a valuable experience to feel the beautiful shine and elegance of Najeon Chilgi and to learn about our unique traditional culture," adding, "We hope there will be more education opportunities to learn traditional cultural life skills and to carry them on in a modern way."
Kwon Sang-hyun, director of the Sacheon Agricultural Technology Center, stated, “We will continue to promote various support and customized education to develop the potential abilities of rural women who lead agricultural and rural development and rural community restoration, as well as to cultivate emotional well-being through hobbies.”
Meanwhile, Sacheon City annually conducts various project education programs to invigorate rural society by disseminating new tasks required for women farmers and to improve and activate the capabilities of Saenghwal Gaeseonhoe members.
