Real-time 3D Modeling of Electric Vehicle Platform Using MS HoloLens 2
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Daegu Catholic University is accelerating the application of a new educational paradigm by developing augmented reality (AR) educational content based on Tesla's electric vehicle platform.
On the 17th, at the Mechanical Engineering Building's XR Innovation Room, students participated in a class where they used Microsoft HoloLens 2 to create real-time 3D virtual models of various components and operating principles of electric vehicles, allowing them to intuitively understand and grasp the principles of interaction.
At the XR Innovation room in the Engineering Building of Daegu Catholic University, they are examining the components of an electric vehicle as 3D models using Microsoft HoloLens 2.
The XR Innovation Room is a space that provides students with practical experience of future automotive technology trends, enabling immersive learning of core technologies such as electric vehicle battery systems, electric motors, and power electronics through augmented reality educational content. In particular, the Tesla electric vehicle platform augmented reality educational content is the key feature of this space.
Professor Yoon Hyun-jung of the Department of Mechanical Engineering stated, “This augmented reality educational content offers students an intuitive understanding and hands-on opportunity with the core systems of electric vehicles. Such a technological approach is expected to lead educational innovation and significantly enhance students' practical skills.”
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Daegu Catholic University is the leading department of the ‘Mobility Digital Transformation Track’ under the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Innovation University, part of the ‘Local Government-University Cooperation Based Regional Innovation Project (RIS)’ promoted by the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Regional Innovation Platform and supported by the Ministry of Education, cultivating specialized talent for the future mobility digital transformation.
