Establishment and Full-Scale Implementation of the 2024 Comprehensive Policy for Integrity Improvement
Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 17th that it will establish and actively implement the ‘2024 Comprehensive Policy for Improving Integrity’ to realize a transparent education system in Gwangju.
They plan to improve passive administration, procedural violations, and unclear work practices, which have been pointed out as issues in the external integrity evaluations conducted annually.
Focusing on courteous administration, they will intensively conduct training for public officials’ work competency enhancement and customer service departments, establish a system for immediate response to phone complaints, and mandate the disclosure of major projects on websites, operating these as key initiatives throughout the year.
In addition, they plan to strengthen the integrity accountability of senior officials by reflecting the integrity evaluations of public officials at grade 5 and above in performance indicators.
To improve corruption-prone areas, school sports teams and after-school programs will secure transparency through integrity clean call surveys, and ambitious initiatives such as integrity on-site implementation checklists to protect the rights and interests of construction management supervisors will also be promoted.
They have also set a policy to maintain and strengthen a culture of integrity 365 days a year through various integrity culture training programs. On the 26th, they plan to hold a live integrity education session in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s Integrity Training Institute.
Superintendent Lee Jeong-seon stated, “Integrity and customer satisfaction are fundamental qualities for our public officials, and I, along with the vice superintendent, directors, and other senior executives, will take full responsibility,” adding, “This year, we will definitely improve integrity, restore trust in Gwangju education, and provide a higher level of educational administrative services.”
