Medical Students' Valid Leave of Absence Applications Exceed 56% Overall... Increase of 135 Students

Classes to Resume at Over 30 Locations This Week
11 Universities Still Refusing Classes

Although classes have resumed at most medical schools nationwide, the number of medical students applying for leave of absence continues to increase.


According to the Ministry of Education's survey on the 17th targeting 40 medical schools nationwide, as of the previous day, the valid leave of absence applications totaled 135 students from one school. The cumulative number reached 10,578 cases, accounting for 56.3% of all enrolled medical students.


There was one case of leave of absence being rejected at one school, and one case of leave being approved at another school.

According to the Ministry of Education, as of that day, class boycotts were confirmed at 11 universities. The Ministry requested universities to normalize academic operations and repeatedly urged them to prevent approvals of collective leave of absence.


According to the Ministry of Education and each university, 30 out of the 40 medical schools are expected to resume classes by the end of this week.
