Discussion on Vocational Technical Education Exchange with TAFE NSW, Australia
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education is focusing on supporting students' dreams of reaching the world through global field learning.
On the 17th, the Gwangju Office of Education announced that on the 16th, it held a vocational technical education exchange consultation with TAFE (national education institution) operated by New South Wales (NSW) in Australia (hereinafter referred to as TAFE NSW).
This consultation took place during a visit to Gwangju by Fumi Percival, the International Team General Manager of TAFE NSW.
Last August, the Office of Education had already discussed training and educational exchanges with TAFE NSW, including English education, vocational training, cultural exchange, and employment capability development.
Based on the MOU agreement, this consultation specifically discussed a customized vocational training program for this year's specialized high school global field learning.
Last year, 35 students from specialized high schools participated in a 4-week program in Australia, enhancing their local language skills and technical capabilities, serving as a stepping stone to becoming global talents.
Additionally, many participating students are preparing for local employment in Australia. This year, candidates for the field learning program are being selected and are undergoing pre-language education, online video English lessons, and local culture education. The field learning program is scheduled to take place in Australia for 4 weeks starting from July 21.
Superintendent Lee Jeong-seon said, “Through the visit of TAFE NSW officials, I hope that the upcoming global field learning will be conducted more thoroughly,” and added, “We will ensure that students learn a lot overseas and realize their big dreams of reaching the world.”
