Robotis? LG Electronics Targets Market with Outdoor Autonomous Robot 'Gaemi'
Robotics company Robotis announced that its cooperation structure with LG Electronics, its second-largest shareholder, has entered a full-fledged trajectory.
On the morning of the 11th, Robotis held a meeting at its Magok office with LG Electronics' Executive Director Noh Gyu-chan and other officials to discuss the detailed specifications and delivery schedule of the outdoor autonomous robot 'Gaemi (GAEMI),' the company announced on the 17th.
The master contract for mass production has already been completed. The main content was a detailed meeting regarding the delivery of the outdoor autonomous robot 'Gaemi (GAEMI),' which is regarded as the most encouraging achievement since the establishment of Robotis' autonomous robot division. The remaining procedures, such as mass production and delivery specifications and certifications, will be promptly finalized, with plans to start deliveries from the second half of this year.
The delivery contract appears to be the result of recognition of Robotis' extensive data, operational know-how, and solid technological capabilities accumulated over a long period in the field of autonomous robots. Through strengthening delivery and cooperation with a major corporation, Robotis expects to firmly maintain its image as an industry-leading company and accelerate its entry into overseas markets.
Since the enforcement of the Intelligent Robot Act in November last year, the importance of the outdoor autonomous robot market has rapidly emerged, and inquiries about the introduction of the autonomous robot 'Gaemi (GAEMI)' have continued. After obtaining Korea's first outdoor mobile robot operation safety certification in January this year, Robotis plans to accelerate mass production by learning driving data in more diverse environments and all four seasons.
Robotis CEO Kim Byung-soo said, "Through cooperation, the technology of 'Gaemi (GAEMI)' has been recognized, and we expect business results as we plan to promote the full-scale outdoor autonomous robot business together with LG Electronics." He added, "Going forward, through cooperation between the two companies, we plan to quickly secure the outdoor autonomous robot market."
