TESS surpassed 30,000 KRW during trading hours for the first time in 2 years and 7 months. It has been on the rise since the news of Samsung Electronics' order.

As of 9:10 AM on the 17th, TESS is trading at 31,800 KRW, up 7.61% from the previous day. This marks the fifth consecutive trading day of gains. The TESS stock price has exceeded 30,000 KRW for the first time since September 2021.

On the 15th, Samsung Electronics reportedly completed a purchase order for seven Challenger CT units from TESS. These are high-bandwidth memory (HBM) process equipment. The price of each Linzer CT unit is 2.8 billion KRW. The total contract size is estimated at 19.6 billion KRW.

Samsung Electronics partnered with TESS because it recently secured 2.5D package volumes from Nvidia. The core of the 2.5D package is to combine a logic chip (a semiconductor chip that performs logical computations) and four HBM chips into a single package. TESS's equipment is expected to be utilized in this process. Samsung Electronics is making every effort to take the lead in HBM, which is key to artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors.

TESS is a company primarily engaged in manufacturing front-end equipment necessary for semiconductor production. Its 2023 performance recorded sales of 146.9 billion KRW and an operating loss of 5.9 billion KRW. The company turned to a loss due to memory semiconductor production cuts and a sharp decline in semiconductor equipment investment by customers, which were concentrated in the second half of the year. However, expectations for performance improvement are growing along with the semiconductor market recovery. The first quarter performance is estimated at sales of 55.2 billion KRW and operating profit of 5.5 billion KRW.
