420 People Awarded Bitcoin Rewards Through Lottery
Korbit, the first domestic virtual asset exchange, announced on the 17th that it will hold a countdown event to mark the fourth Bitcoin (BTC) halving this month.
During the event period until the 21st, Korbit will select 420 customers who have cumulatively purchased Bitcoin worth more than 100,000 KRW and reward them with Bitcoin worth approximately 10,000 KRW.
The Bitcoin halving refers to the phenomenon where the reward given for successfully mining each Bitcoin block is reduced by half. This occurs every 210,000 blocks, roughly every four years. The Bitcoin network has experienced three halvings in 2012, 2016, and 2020, and the fourth halving is scheduled for this month. Bitcoin prices have risen following the previous three halvings.
Kim Il-gwon, Head of Business Development at Korbit, stated, “The Bitcoin halving has always been a matter of great interest to both the virtual asset industry and investors, and recent Bitcoin price increases have heightened this interest. We believe Korbit’s Bitcoin halving countdown event will provide virtual asset investors with a good opportunity to learn about Bitcoin’s characteristics and its future price volatility.”
