Survey on Seclusion Periods and Triggers for Over 500 People Starting in June
Daejeon City announced that it will conduct the first survey on reclusive individuals who live socially disconnected and emotionally isolated lives.
The city plans to complete preliminary research, including key statistics and domestic and international cases, as well as the development of the survey questionnaire by next month, and conduct the survey through the Daejeon Social Service Center from June to August.
The survey will be conducted on about 500 reclusive individuals (200 in their 20s, 200 in their 30s, and around 100 aged 40 and above) through individual in-depth interviews, as well as focus group interviews with families of reclusive individuals and field experts.
Considering the characteristics of the survey subjects, the survey will be conducted both online and offline using a URL service (QR code), investigating gender and age, duration and triggers of reclusion, daily routines and lifestyle habits, physical and mental health, relationships and support, and welfare service needs.
Based on the results of this survey, the city plans to establish a basic plan containing support tasks and improvement measures for reclusive individuals by the end of this year and implement it effectively.
Min Dong-hee, Director of the Welfare Bureau of Daejeon City, said, “We will actively seek ways to discover reclusive individuals through public-private cooperation and encourage their participation in the survey.”
