Almek, a global electric vehicle aluminum parts specialist, announced on the 17th that it held a completion ceremony for the casting plant for next-generation global electric vehicle production at the ARR Aluminum Sacheon plant on the 16th of this month.
Almek, a global electric vehicle parts company, signed a large-scale investment agreement with Sacheon City in May 2022 to produce new billets at the ARR Aluminum Sacheon plant. Investments were made to establish a casting plant and an extrusion plant to operate the largest-scale extruder in Korea. ARR Aluminum is a joint venture with a global American electric vehicle manufacturer.
The new casting plant applies a system that recycles recycled aluminum scrap, providing cost competitiveness. It is an eco-friendly facility producing low-carbon aluminum to overcome carbon border tax and USMCA regulations.
The newly constructed plant at the Sacheon facility covers an area of approximately 20,000 square meters. It can produce 100,000 tons of billets annually, doubling the production capacity compared to before. The new casting plant, equipped with cutting-edge technology such as automation of key processes to ensure the highest product quality, is scheduled to begin full-scale operation this month.
CEO Shin Sang-ho said, “I deeply appreciate the hard work of our employees in completing the casting plant despite the challenging internal and external conditions and Almek’s decision for large-scale investment. We promise to use this opportunity to create a new leap forward for Almek and ARR Aluminum.”
