Naked Male Body Found in Uijeongbu River Sewer... "No Significant Trauma"

Police "Forensic Science Institute Autopsy Request Planned"

No signs of trauma were found on the naked body discovered in a river sewer pipe in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.


On the 16th, police reported that at around 2:40 PM, a body of an unidentified male was found in a river sewer pipe in Ganeung-dong, Uijeongbu. The body was discovered by a river construction worker, who immediately reported it to the fire authorities.

The responding fire department and police found and retrieved the drowned body about 8 meters inside the sewer pipe entrance. The body was naked with no visible trauma and was reported to be in a state of decomposition.


The police transferred the male body to a nearby funeral home. Subsequently, the Northern Gyeonggi Police Agency's forensic team is conducting fingerprinting and a detailed examination for signs of homicide to confirm the identity.


A police official stated, "There is CCTV monitoring the entrance of the river sewer pipe, which is currently being reviewed," adding, "Once the identity is confirmed, an autopsy will be requested from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death."
