Convenience Stores Also Bake Pizza... GS25 Introduces 'Single-Person Pizza' in Stores

Order completed in 5 minutes... 1000 units to be introduced by year-end

Convenience store GS25 will sell freshly baked pizza 24 hours a day. GS Retail and GOPIZZA announced on the 17th that they signed a business agreement focused on "expanding convenience store customer experience and franchise growth" at a meeting held on the 20th floor conference room of the GS Tower located in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, attended by key officials including Jeong Jae-hyung, head of GS Retail's convenience store division, and Lim Jae-won, CEO of GOPIZZA.

Convenience Stores Also Bake Pizza... GS25 Introduces 'Single-Person Pizza' in Stores

GOPIZZA is a single-serving pizza brand that allows customers to conveniently enjoy pizzas that are difficult to eat alone without burden. The two companies launched a new business model project, ‘GS25 X GOPIZZA,’ at the end of November last year. They have been verifying consumer responses and the business model through the pilot store ‘GS25 The Gwanak Branch,’ and encouraged by the positive reactions from store owners at the GOPIZZA booth during the product exhibition held in February, they decided to expand the business.

First, based on this business agreement, the two companies plan to introduce GOPIZZA to about 250 GS25 stores nationwide within the first half of the year. Initially, they planned to introduce it to 200 stores in the first half, but due to overwhelming inquiries from the field, they increased the number by 50 stores and plan to expand to 1,000 stores by the end of the year. For operational convenience, they also developed customized mini ovens and ultra-low temperature quick-freeze pizza products to enable easy operation in small spaces.

Through this, stores can quickly bake a pizza in about five minutes immediately after a customer’s order, and in line with the 24-hour operation characteristic of convenience stores, they can provide freshly baked pizza to customers anytime. The two companies plan to continuously develop products by adding side menus such as spaghetti and risotto in addition to pizza in the future.

Lee Kang-chul, head of the Convenience Store Store Improvement Team at GS Retail, said, “We have partnered with the single-serving pizza brand GOPIZZA to introduce a new business model to always deliver good food and new experiences to customers visiting convenience stores.” He added, “We will continue to create synergy that contributes not only to customer satisfaction but also to increasing store sales through various collaborations between the two companies.”
