Before the event, Gyeonggi Province will hold a ‘Companion Tree Distribution Event,’ part of the ‘My Tree Ownership Campaign,’ in the plaza of the Siheung Oido Museum to raise awareness of the importance of forests in the era of climate crisis and encourage tree planting participation.

Lee Jeong-su, Director of the Garden Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, “Forests are internationally recognized carbon sinks, and their value is infinite in the era of climate crisis. We will create and implement garden and forest policies that utilize the value of forests well, enabling public institutions, companies, and all residents to participate and take action together.”

This year, Gyeonggi Province is creating 19 village gardens, 19.8 hectares of urban forests, 47 small parks, and 16 school forests to establish green spaces in living areas in response to the climate crisis. In October, the 12th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo will be held in Namyangju to promote garden culture in daily life.
