Vietnamese Prime Minister Meets Apple CEO: "We Will Support Investment Expansion"

Promise to Create a Friendly Business Environment

On the 16th (local time), Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Apple CEO Tim Cook and promised to provide a friendly business environment by supporting expanded investment locally.

According to foreign media including Reuters, Prime Minister Chinh stated to CEO Cook, who visited Vietnam, that the Vietnamese government will accompany foreign-invested companies and other businesses to create favorable conditions for effective and sustainable operations.


He also expressed hope that Apple would increase its investment to allow Vietnam to participate more deeply in the production supply chain of Apple products. He conveyed that the Vietnamese government is ready to cooperate by forming a task force (TF) to support Apple's investment expansion.


CEO Cook responded that there are many opportunities to grow cooperation between Vietnam and Apple and expressed a desire to increase investment in Vietnam. He also said that Apple is prepared to cooperate on energy transition to help Vietnam achieve carbon neutrality (net zero) by 2050 and to participate in promoting Vietnam's cultural values to the world through apps on the App Store.


Meanwhile, Apple stated in a release related to this meeting that it will increase spending on Vietnamese partner companies and launch a new project to supply clean water to local schools.
