Yellow Dust Crisis Alert: Caution Level
As of 7 p.m. on the 16th, a 'Caution' level yellow dust crisis alert was issued for Gangwon Yeongdong.
The alert was issued as the hourly average concentration of fine dust (PM10) in the northern region of Gangwon Yeongdong remained above 300㎍/㎥ for more than two hours.
Since last weekend, yellow dust originating from the Gobi Desert and the Inner Mongolian Plateau has been carried by northwesterly winds and began entering the country in the afternoon, and the yellow dust crisis alert is expected to gradually expand.
As of 7 p.m., fine dust concentrations are 259㎍/㎥ in Gangwon, 221㎍/㎥ in Chungbuk, 178㎍/㎥ in Sejong, 169㎍/㎥ in Gyeongbuk, 158㎍/㎥ in Daegu, 156㎍/㎥ in Gyeonggi, and 151㎍/㎥ in Seoul, with the entire country except Busan experiencing 'Very Bad' or 'Bad' levels.
On Wednesday the 17th, fine dust levels nationwide are expected to be bad, with particularly very bad levels temporarily observed in the morning in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon, Chungcheong, and Yeongnam regions.
