Notice of Direct Delivery of Official Letter Prohibiting Food Sanitation Act Violations to About 300 Food Service Establishments in Apgujeong-dong on the Evening of the 16th
After the organizer of the "Adult Festival" (2024 KXF The Fashion), featuring Japanese adult video (AV) actors, failed to secure venues in Suwon and Paju in Gyeonggi Province as well as along the Han River in Seoul, reports on the 16th indicated that the event would be moved to the cafe alley in Apgujeong, Gangnam-gu. In response, Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) took immediate action.
To prevent the festival, which commodifies sex and harms public morals, from taking place, the district first sent official notices titled "Prohibition of Violations of the Food Sanitation Act" to about 300 food service establishments on Apgujeong Street.
The notice stated that under Articles 44 and 75 of the Food Sanitation Act, administrative sanctions could be imposed if the festival is held. On the evening of the 16th, officials and food sanitation inspectors personally visited the establishments to deliver the notice.
Additionally, to prepare for unexpected situations such as the festival proceeding on the street, the district plans to cooperate with the Gangnam Police Station and the Apgujeong Rodeo Development Committee (local merchants' association) for joint response efforts.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, "We will mobilize all administrative resources to prevent this festival, which is causing social disorder, from being held in Gangnam-gu."
