Pony 'Wally' Becomes Honorary Ambassador of Dongdaemun-gu

The Smallest Pura Bella Pony Breed... Certified as a 'Therapy Assistance Animal'
Participation in Lunar New Year Promotional Content Production and Various Activities Providing Animal-Assisted Healing Expected

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) appointed the world's smallest horse, 'Wally,' as an honorary ambassador on the 16th.

Standing 61 cm tall at the shoulder, 'Wally' is a Palomino breed, the smallest among ponies, commonly used for children's riding or kept as a pet.

Certified as a 'Therapy Assistance Animal' by the Korean Animal-Assisted Psychological Therapy Association, Wally engages in animal-assisted therapy (horse therapy) to connect with people and help heal those facing psychological difficulties.

Wally is also a star animal with many fans, appearing on TV programs such as Animal Farm and various YouTube videos.

A district official explained the reason for the appointment, saying, "After reviewing Wally's ambassador application submitted in March, we determined that Wally's various activities in healing people's hearts align with the district's direction of aiming to be a child-, elderly-, and disabled-friendly city."

As Dongdaemun-gu's honorary ambassador, 'Wally' plans to continue various activities over the next two years, including participating in the production of district promotional content (district newsletters, official SNS, etc.) and visiting events for children and people with disabilities to conduct animal-assisted therapy (horse therapy) programs.

Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "Together with Wally, we will create a vibrant and loving Dongdaemun-gu."

On the 25th, Wally will provide horse therapy to residents attending the event commemorating the Day of Persons with Disabilities, and on May 4th, during the Children's Day celebration.
