Finally Arrested After 3 Days of Pursuit

A man in his 40s who was illegally filming female students by following them in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, was finally caught after persistent investigation by the police.

Officer Shin Min-hyeok of the Crime Prevention Response Division, Mobile Patrol Unit 2, Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency, witnessed a man holding a cellphone and following female students while driving to work in Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si on the 9th. Feeling suspicious, Officer Shin quickly stopped his car and tried to find the man, but the man had already left the scene.

Officer Shin checked the nearby stores' closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to confirm the man's suspicious behavior. He also identified the man as Mr. A, a man in his 40s, by confirming the license plate number of the vehicle the man was driving. The next day, Officer Shin and his colleagues searched the crime scene again, but Mr. A did not show up easily.

Then, at 6 a.m. on the 11th, while inquiring about the suspect’s address and the crime scene, Officer Shin noticed Mr. A’s car with the engine running. At that moment, Mr. A got out of the car and followed a female student who was passing by. Officer Shin and other police officers pursued Mr. A and, after a struggle, arrested him on the spot.

Meanwhile, the Mobile Patrol Unit of the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency, to which Officer Shin belongs, was launched in February and handled over 220 important wanted cases and about 40 criminal cases by the end of March.
