Hemophilia is a bleeding disorder caused by a deficiency of clotting factors in the blood and is a rare disease occurring in approximately one in 10,000 people. The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) established April 17th as "World Hemophilia Day" in 1989 to raise awareness about hemophilia and bleeding disorders. This year’s slogan, "Equal Opportunities for All: Know About All Bleeding Disorders," reflects the commitment to creating a world where everyone with bleeding disorders can receive treatment.
The blood donation campaign was conducted through blood donation vehicles, with direct participation from employees working at SK Plasma in Pangyo, as well as affiliates including SK Discovery, SK Chemicals, SK Gas, SK Bioscience, SK D&D, and factories located in Ulsan, Andong City in Gyeongbuk, Cheongju City in Chungbuk, and Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province.
SK Plasma plans to provide tumblers in addition to the existing blood donation souvenirs to employees participating in the campaign. Earlier in January, Kim Seung-joo, CEO of SK Plasma, participated in the "Zero Single-Use Plastics Challenge," and this promise to provide tumblers to campaign participants this year is a continuation of the environmental protection efforts initiated by that challenge.
Furthermore, starting from the 17th, SK Plasma will post a banner on its website commemorating World Hemophilia Day and will collect and deliver blood donation certificates along with supportive messages for hemophilia patients.
CEO Kim Seung-joo stated, “We will continue to hold regular blood donation campaigns to raise social awareness of rare diseases and strive to improve the quality of life for patients. We plan to actively practice ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management by joining forces with our employees to address various social issues we face.”
