Suspension of Sales and Disposal of Inventory for Four Detected Products
It has been revealed that pathogenic bacteria causing food poisoning were detected in some subscription-based lunchbox products, whose demand is increasing mainly among one- to two-person households.
The Korea Consumer Agency announced on the 16th that, as a result of a safety investigation on subscription-based lunchboxes sold online, pathogenic bacteria and E. coli were detected in 4 out of 54 products.

The four products in which food poisoning bacteria were detected are 'Buchaesal Sous Vide', 'Pyeongyang Bibimbap', 'Gulmijmayo Tuna Rice Bowl', and 'High Rice & Sausage'. These products contained Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria monocytogenes, which cause acute gastroenteritis and food poisoning.
The businesses that manufactured and sold these products have completed sales suspension and disposal of remaining stock following the corrective recommendations from the Consumer Agency. Going forward, the Consumer Agency plans to request the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to conduct inspections and take necessary measures regarding these products.
The Consumer Agency urged, "If any damage occurs due to these products, please apply for consultation through the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center or Consumer24, and always check the heating methods and times indicated on the product when preparing and consuming refrigerated or frozen foods."
