The Korea Development Institute (KDI) announced on the 16th that it will jointly hold a "Pension System Training" with the World Bank.
The training will take place from today until the 19th. The participants are cooperation countries in the East Asia and Pacific region. Public officials from five countries experiencing rapid demographic changes?Malaysia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia?will participate as trainees.
KDI and the World Bank have planned a program to progressively operate and reform pension systems in response to demographic changes. Expert presentations will be held in seven areas, including Korea's public pension system, measures to address pension gaps, partial reforms and structural reforms, and the public officials' pension system.
Kang Dong-su, Director of the KDI Global Knowledge Cooperation Complex, said, "Korea is a country undergoing rapid aging, and discussions on pension reform measures to enhance sustainability are actively taking place at the social level." He added, "We hope this training will serve as a platform for sharing diverse ideas on public pensions among the participating countries."
