Chinese home appliance company Roborock announced on the 16th that it will launch its 2024 flagship robot vacuum cleaner, the 'Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra.'
On the same day, Roborock held a launch show for the 'Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra' at the InterContinental Seoul COEX Hotel in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and made this announcement. This is the first time Roborock has held a new product launch show in Korea.
At the launch show, Dan Cham, Roborock Asia-Pacific Marketing Director, and Kim Seoyoung, Head of Marketing in Korea, presented Roborock’s vision, current global performance, new product lineup, and customer service (CS) enhancement strategies.
The new Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is equipped with edge cleaning and smart voice guidance features.
The edge cleaning function has been enhanced to thoroughly clean narrow and detailed areas such as corners and edges. When the vacuum recognizes corners within the cleaning space, the flexi-arm side brush automatically extends to collect dust in hard-to-reach areas and suction it up. During mop cleaning, the extra edge mop cleans spaces within 1.68mm of the wall edges.
The vacuum and mop cleaning functions, as well as the all-in-one dock features, have been improved. For the first time in a Roborock product, a direct drainage function has been added. Tasks that previously required manual effort, such as wastewater disposal and water tank refilling, have been automated. Additionally, it boasts an enhanced suction power of 10,000 Pa (pascals), surpassing last year’s flagship model, the 'Roborock S8 Pro Ultra.'
The Reactive Artificial Intelligence (AI) 2.0 is equipped with 3D structured light and an RGB camera. The obstacle recognition sensor installed in the AI identifies and avoids 73 types of obstacles, including mirrors and pet supplies.
The new product also features a newly applied smart voice guidance function. When the user says "Hello Rocky," operation begins. Various functions such as pausing cleaning, designating cleaning areas, automatic dust emptying, and mop washing can be conveniently controlled by voice commands.
It includes eight functions: up to 60°C warm water mop washing, mop hot air drying, dock self-cleaning, intelligent dust detection, automatic dust emptying, automatic water tank refilling, automatic detergent dispenser, and off-peak charging.
Customer service (CS) functions have also been strengthened. The existing 18 Roborock after-sales service (AS) centers have been expanded by adding Hi-Mart AS reception points, totaling 352 locations. To commemorate the new product launch, the free AS period will be extended to two years for the time being.
Roborock is the global number one robot vacuum cleaner company, operating in over 170 countries. It also holds the number one market share in Korea. Roborock stated, "According to global market research agencies, Roborock’s domestic market share last year was 35.5%, ranking first in the entire robot vacuum cleaner market," and added, "The market share for high-end robot vacuum cleaners priced over 1.5 million KRW reached 80.5%."
