Discussion Outcomes to Inform Policy Decisions After Expert Consultations
Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced on the 15th that it held a ‘Future Strategy Forum’ at the G-Valley Corporate Citizen Hall to prepare for the 30th anniversary of the district office’s opening.
The year 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Geumcheon-gu’s establishment. This forum was organized to bring together department heads and key decision-makers, who are section chiefs, to discuss the future of Geumcheon.
Prior to the forum, the district proactively reviewed residents’ demands and opinions through several years of resident perception surveys and policy awareness surveys. In addition, a preliminary perception survey was conducted targeting section chiefs, who can be considered internal experts.
The resident survey showed that ‘urban development and improvement of residential environment’ accounted for 28.1%, indicating a strong desire for policies closely related to urban development and people’s livelihoods, which was also the opinion shared by the section chiefs.
Moreover, many section chiefs responded that there should be strategies to respond to social and demographic changes such as low birth rates and aging population.
Before the forum, writer Song Gil-young, an expert in big data and future forecasting, gave a lecture on ‘Changes and Trends in the Future Era and the Direction Geumcheon Should Take.’
Afterwards, the section chiefs sat at round tables to identify and discuss the directions Geumcheon should take and key agendas based on the preliminary perception survey.
The roundtable discussions were conducted with section chiefs having an average work experience of over 30 years, gathering to prepare for Geumcheon’s future by reviewing major issues and discovering and discussing policies and agendas according to priority.
The agendas and policies identified on this day will be reviewed for feasibility by forming a future strategy task force later. A future strategy forum will be held to collect expert opinions from related fields and to concretize implementation plans, which will be reflected in future policy decisions.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “It is important to listen to the voices of all members for the future development of Geumcheon,” adding, “We will listen carefully to the voices of residents, internal organizations, and related experts to set a direction and design the future of Geumcheon so that we can create a unique style and pride for Geumcheon.”
