Seongbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) held a happy volunteer solidarity project called 'Together Seongbuk Cheongyeol (川潔)' volunteer activity with Seongbuk-gu volunteers on the 13th to commemorate Earth Day.
About 200 people, including volunteer organizations, volunteer camps, and volunteers, participated in this volunteer activity. They walked along the Seongbuk Stream from Hansung University Entrance Station Fountain Maru to Bomun-dong Community Service Center, picking up trash and cleaning the environment.
The Happy Volunteer Solidarity Project is an activity planned by the district to promote volunteer activities that can be practiced in daily life. Taking this activity as an opportunity, the district plans to expand volunteer activities involving local residents.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, said, “To commemorate Earth Day, I am grateful and thankful that volunteer organizations, camps, and volunteers in Seongbuk-gu gathered to walk along Seongbuk Stream and participate in environmental volunteer activities for carbon neutrality practice and climate crisis response.” He added, “We will frequently plan volunteer opportunities where volunteers can work together and communicate.”
A participant in the volunteer activity said, “This volunteer activity, applied for through the 1365 Volunteer Portal, was different from other activities in that I could fully feel spring at Seongbuk Stream, and I had a pleasant day participating in the activity to purify Seongbuk Stream with many volunteers. I intend to continue participating in activities in the future.”
The autonomous cleaning volunteer activity ‘Seongbuk Cheongyeol (川潔)’ is a volunteer activity in which any citizen who wants to volunteer at Seongbuk Stream and Ui Stream, rivers in Seongbuk-gu, can participate voluntarily.
‘Seongbuk Cheongyeol (川潔)’ plans to operate volunteer activities collecting river trash at Seongbuk Stream and Ui Stream every Wednesday and Saturday from April. If you wish to participate in this activity, you can search for 'Seongbuk Cheongyeol (川潔)' on the 1365 Volunteer Portal and apply. During the volunteer activity, after receiving tongs and bags from the designated cleaning tool box, collect trash from the river, dispose of it in the designated trash bins, and submit an activity reflection form to complete participation and receive volunteer hours.
