On the 15th at 4 PM, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the opening ceremony of 'Nowon Makers One' held at Yeonji Square, Induk University, located in Nowon-gu, Seoul.
'Nowon Makers One' is a job creation platform that started in 2018 as part of a job creation contest project. In January of this year, it newly signed a business agreement with the Induk University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Startup Incubation Center and relocated its business site to Yeonji Square, Induk University.
Nowon Makers One goes beyond simply providing education or community spaces; it trains participants to be immediately deployable in practical settings and introduces a lifelong support concept to continuously monitor progress.
With the relocation to Yeonji Square, Induk University this year, the district expects the expansion of employment and startup infrastructure by being adjacent not only to local universities such as Seoul National University of Science and Technology and Kwangwoon University but also to facilities like KIST (Korea Institute of Science and Technology).
The opening ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, the president of Induk University, city and district council members, and local residents. The event proceeded with a project progress report, greetings and congratulatory speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a facility tour.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “At the Nowon-type makerspace ‘Nowon Makers One,’ any Nowon resident can realize their ideas,” and added, “I hope Nowon Makers One will establish itself as a place for nurturing talent in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and become a cornerstone for job creation.”
