The temporary permanent market of Seocheon Specialty Market, which suspended operations due to a fire last January, will open on the 25th.
According to the province on the 15th, the temporary permanent market has been completed on a site of 1,310 pyeong, including the existing specialty market parking lot. The temporary market will house 227 stores. The stores include 151 in the seafood section, 73 in the general section, and 3 outdoor containers.
Out of the 206 completely burned stores, 194 will move in, while 12 will not due to reasons such as shared use, abandonment, or permit cancellation.
The province will provide free rent support for the temporary market. The existing Seocheon Specialty Market will be demolished by the 25th and used as a temporary parking lot.
The province plans to actively promote the opening of the temporary market through an opening ceremony and celebratory performances from the 25th to the 27th. To stimulate consumption, refunds of up to 20,000 won will be given in Onnuri gift certificates based on purchase amounts, and the discount rate for local love gift certificates will be increased from the existing 10% to 20%.
The province supported the recovery from the Seocheon Specialty Market fire damage with 4.75 billion won in donations, providing an average of 23,058,000 won to 206 stores. Including disaster and livelihood support funds, each store received 35,058,000 won.
Governor Kim Tae-heum said, "Although it is a temporary market, it has been organized more neatly than the existing market to ensure no inconvenience in welcoming customers," and requested, "Please promote it extensively so that more people can visit."
