The Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP) announced that it held the '2024 ICT Mentoring Day' over two days from the 13th to the 14th at Bloomvista in Yangpyeong.

Meeting of ICT Industry Experts and University Students... Over 7,400 Apply for Mentoring

The event was designed to bring together mentees (university students) and mentors (industry experts) who will lead the future of the ICT field, to review plans for projects they are working on in the field and to strengthen networking through team activities.

The ICT mentoring program, which began recruiting in February, received applications from 7,415 university students, of whom 2,516 mentees were selected. This marked the highest competition rate in the past five years at 2.95:1.

Mentees receive close guidance on practical know-how from mentors active in various roles such as mobile, gaming, and cloud. Through participation in the ICT mentoring contest, they will submit final project results to enhance their practical skills.

Participants in ICT mentoring can receive support not only for practical equipment and software needed for project development but also for meeting room spaces to facilitate smooth communication between mentors and mentees, as well as transportation expenses.

Especially this year, coding education for non-majors themed around Arduino and Roblox, along with customized online education through self-diagnostic tests, will be provided. Additionally, mentor education focusing on theoretical knowledge and differentiated ICT practical experience will also be offered.

Park Junbeom, head of the Digital Talent Development Division at IITP, stated, "ICT mentoring is a program that provides university student mentees from various majors nationwide the opportunity to meet ICT expert mentors, thereby expanding the base for nurturing ICT talent." He added, "IITP will devote its utmost efforts to help participants build practical skills through project support and achieve employment and entrepreneurship."
