Fatal Accident Between Uiwang Station and Dangjeong Station on Line 1
1 Person Dead...Some Train Delays During Morning Commute
A human casualty has occurred between Uiwang Station and Dangjeong Station on Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 1, causing train delays.
On the 15th, Korail announced that a human casualty occurred around 7:57 a.m. between Uiwang Station and Dangjeong Station. Korail stated, "A casualty accident occurred when an upbound (toward Guro) electric train operating between Uiwang Station and Dangjeong Station came into contact with a person who had trespassed onto the tracks."
There are two tracks in this section: one for electric trains and one for regular trains. The electric train track where the accident occurred is currently closed due to accident recovery efforts. As a result, both electric and regular trains are using the regular train track, causing some train delays. At Hwaseo Station and Dangjeong Station, which have only electric train tracks, trains are passing through without stopping.
It is expected that a considerable amount of time will be required to complete the accident recovery. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed as the site is still being cleared. The railway authorities stated that they are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident.
