‘Future Talent Development Program Visiting Schools’ for 2,400 Students at 18 Schools
Creative Convergence Advanced Program Integrating Future Technologies such as Coding, Robotics, and Metaverse
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) is operating an advanced program to nurture children as future talents.
The program is called the ‘Future Talent Development Program Visiting Schools.’ This project supports children in cultivating the skills needed for future society so they can grow into upcoming future talents. The district directly visits schools to operate various creative convergence advanced programs such as coding, robotics, and metaverse, which are usually difficult to access.
From April to December, a total of 12 programs in 8 fields will be held for about 2,400 elementary, middle, and high school students at 18 schools in the area. These include ▲coding education ▲metaverse (Zepeto) ▲MBL creative convergence experiments ▲robot career experience ▲cultural arts experience classes ▲logical speaking ▲global citizenship education ▲management strategy career experience.
Among these, coding education, which was the most requested by parents, offers opportunities to understand algorithms and practice hands-on using the Python programming language, one of the coding languages. The metaverse program uses Zepeto, one of the platforms, to help students understand the concept of the metaverse emerging in the 4th Industrial Revolution era. They can build their own space in the virtual world and directly experience the metaverse that combines real-world spaces with imagination.
Additionally, in collaboration with Kwangwoon University, an intelligent robot innovation convergence university, the robotics class using the educational robot kit ‘Mindstorms’ is expected to be very popular among students. The ‘Management Strategy Career Experience’ program, which involves group idea meetings to explore product design and implementation plans, also draws attention.
In particular, the ‘Management Strategy Career Experience’ program provides students with opportunities to experience their majors in advance and mentoring sessions with university senior students, which the district expects will greatly help in career decision-making.
Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “We are striving to discover programs that allow students to experience various fields required in the future,” adding, “Through diverse and creative experiential activities, we will actively support students to broaden their learning choices and grow into talents who will be the driving force of future society.”
