Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 15th that it will hold a 'KTX-Cheongryong' public test ride event together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport from the 22nd to the 25th of this month.
The test ride event will involve 1,200 citizens boarding the train, with 300 people per train (260 general passengers and 40 from large families), participating in four round-trip runs.
KORAIL will recruit 1,040 general participants and 160 large-family certified members from KORAIL membership on a first-come, first-served basis from 1 PM on the 15th to noon on the 17th.
Applicants can select their preferred date and section for the test ride; general participants can apply for two tickets per person, while large-family members can apply for tickets corresponding to the number of family members including children.
The test trains will operate four round trips on the Gyeongbu Line (Seoul-Busan round trip, boarding at Seoul, Daejeon, Dongdaegu, Busan) on the 22nd and 23rd, and on the Honam Line (Yongsan-Gwangju Songjeong round trip, boarding at Yongsan, Iksan, Gwangju Songjeong) on the 24th and 25th.
KTX-Cheongryong is a next-generation distributed power high-speed train designed and manufactured entirely with domestic technology, scheduled to begin operation next month. Compared to existing trains, it offers wider seat space and cabin aisles, providing a more open and spacious feeling. According to KORAIL, each train consists of 8 cars with a total of 515 seats, offering greater transport capacity than existing trains.
Han Moon-hee, President of KORAIL, said, "The test ride event was prepared to give the public an opportunity to experience KTX-Cheongryong before its official operation starts on the 1st of next month," and added, "We hope for active participation and interest from many citizens."
