Hong Jun-pyo "Han Dong-hoon, who made me taste hell, will not be tolerated" relentless attacks continue

'Highlighting Responsibility of Han Dong-hoon for General Election'

Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, is continuously launching fierce attacks, blaming Han Dong-hoon, former emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, for the crushing defeat in the 22nd general election.

On the 13th, Mayor Hong wrote on his Facebook, "President Yoon came into our party, helped bring about a regime change, and led us to a great victory in the local elections, but what kind of shame does Han Dong-hoon have to become the emergency committee chairman of this party after making us taste hell? It was wrong from the start," adding, "As long as I am in this party, I will not tolerate him."

He also defended President Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, "If the ruling party loses in the general election, it is naturally the fault of the ruling party leadership. If they try to avoid this by blaming the president, only the president becomes the target of criticism while the ruling party leadership evades responsibility."

He also targeted the ruling party that appointed former emergency committee chairman Han Dong-hoon as the head of the general election. He said, "When I was the opposition leader during the Moon Jae-in administration, hundreds of our people were investigated one after another for absurd reasons, some committed suicide, and others were imprisoned. I watched this reckless sword dance with a bleeding heart," and criticized, "The party that brought in the person who led that under the Moon Jae-in administration as the emergency committee chairman is a shameless party and group."

Former chairman Han resigned from his position as emergency committee chairman on the 11th, taking responsibility for the general election defeat. He said, "I apologize to the people on behalf of our party, which was insufficient to receive the people's choice. I solemnly accept the will of the people and deeply reflect on myself."

Since the defeat of the People Power Party in the 22nd general election, Mayor Hong has continued his offensive against Chairman Han. He pointed out, "Han Dong-hoon ruined the party that was saved in the impeachment presidential election by just taking selfies while playing around with presidential ambitions," and criticized, "This party has survived by cowardly entrusting itself to celebrities outside the party without thinking of nurturing talent within the party." He also lamented, "Does a party that only appeals to supporters over their 70s have a future? Watching this general election, I feel sorry that the party I have spent over 30 years with is becoming a bird that cannot fly."

In response, former Saenuri Party (the predecessor of the People Power Party) lawmaker Jeon Yeo-ok said, "Mayor Hong Joon-pyo should not stoop to childish games," and sharply criticized, "Even if everyone keeps quiet and says 'It's my fault, it's my fault,' it is absurd to disparage emergency committee chairman Han Dong-hoon and belittle party members. What good does that do?"
