Popular Physical Activity Programs for Disabled Only, Including Zumba Dance and Yoga
Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it is actively operating an intensive rehabilitation treatment room and various physical activity programs to promote the health of people with disabilities.
People with disabilities require specialized and differentiated rehabilitation treatment compared to non-disabled individuals, and consistent exercise is essential to prevent chronic diseases and secondary disabilities.
Accordingly, the district supports the health promotion of residents with brain lesions and physical disabilities through the operation of the ‘Songpa-gu Health Center Rehabilitation Treatment Room,’ equipped with professional staff and equipment.
Intensive rehabilitation treatment is conducted using various equipment such as ▲rehabilitation treadmill ▲electric upper and lower limb exercise machines ▲pneumatic muscle strengthening therapy devices ▲parallel bar trainers.
Additionally, treatments such as electrical and thermal therapy, phototherapy, ▲pain treatment, ▲one-on-one customized exercise therapy, ▲occupational therapy, and ▲traditional Korean medicine therapy are also provided.
Rehabilitation treatment is available to residents of Songpa-gu with brain lesions and physical disabilities, and those with severe disabilities (former disability grades 1 to 3) can use the service free of charge. Disabled individuals wishing to receive treatment can call the rehabilitation treatment room for consultation and make a reservation.
Furthermore, the district collaborates with the Vocational Rehabilitation Center, Daycare Center, and other facilities to offer various physical activity enhancement programs such as ▲Zumba dance ▲yoga and stretching for disabled facility users. These programs are provided free of charge under the guidance of specialized instructors for people with disabilities.
In addition, the district plans to expand and strengthen various rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, including ▲home-visit rehabilitation services for homebound disabled individuals and ▲rehabilitation counseling.
Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “We hope that actively operating rehabilitation programs for people with disabilities will help improve the health of disabled residents in the area,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to provide various rehabilitation exercise and health services so that people with disabilities in the community can enjoy a healthy life.”
